OpenBazaar was a decentralized peer-to-peer marketplace launched in 2014 for direct cryptocurrency-based commerce without intermediaries. It shut down in 2021 due to financial issues but saw community-led revival efforts in 2023, including development on a new protocol version. The project remains open-source with uncertain future activity.
